The Focus of Our Efforts

Recognizing the enormity of the challenges our society faces, Genus Foundation is dedicated to making a lasting impact through our campaigns and programs. While our efforts are driven by our organization’s singular focus, we spread a wide net by investing in a variety of progressive strategies. WATER MANAGEMENT

Genus Foundation has been working in the field of water management in Rajasthan state of India. Under the EU-SPP (European Union - State Partnership Programme), IWRM (Integrated Water Resource Management)  is one of the most prestigious programme , being implemented in 11 districts of Rajasthan. The project was funded by the European Union through the State Water    Resources Planning Department (SWRPD), Govt. of Rajasthan.


Apart from Community mobilization , Strengthening of Water User Groups, Village Water Health and Sanitation Committees (VWHSC), Sensitization and General Awareness, Water Sector Reforms etc, the key objectives of the project were –

Achieving equitable access to safe, adequate, affordable, and sustainable water supply.

State wide water section reforms leading to sustainable and integrated water resource management and

Conservation, stabilization and replenishment of surface and ground water.

Genus Foundation has been involved in the implementation of all three phases (2011-2017) of IWRM activities through facilitation for capacity building, community mobilization and trainings. The geographical area of the operation covered  various areas of western Rajasthan.

EDUCATION

Tackling the Issue

“Prerna”, an educational steam of Genus Foundation, was started in 1999 with the aim of imparting quality education to candidates from financially weaker sections. Apart from other exams, we also provide coaching for Engineering / Medical entrance exams. We have a team of professional teachers and subject experts. Our students have been able to achieve top most ranks in these exams at national level.
Genus Foundation is also involved in imparting free education and support to financially weak students, especially from the different slum areas of Rajasthan.
We have also received grants from “Ministry of Minority Affairs”, Govt. of India & “Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment”, Govt. of India for imparting the free coaching to Minority, SC, OBC category candidates for various entrance and competitive examination.

HEALTH & FAMILY WELFARE (REPRODUCTIVE AND CHILD HEALTH)

Tackling the Issue

Genus Foundation has been actively participating in various activities related to health and family welfare by organizing various health check up camps, awareness programmes, workshops etc.


One of the prestigious programme of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) is the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH).

Our organisation has successfully run the Urban RCH centre for three years (2008-2011) in the slum areas of Jaipur, being supported by the Department of Medical & Family Welfare, Govt. of Rajasthan.

The main objectives of the programme were spreading awareness and implementing practices like family planning, maternal health, full component of antenatal, postnatal , referral delivery services and immunization with the aim to bring about a change by reducing infant mortality rate and maternal  mortality .

More than a decade of research has shown that small and affordable measures can significantly reduce the health risks that women face during pregnancy. Most maternal deaths can be prevented if women have the access to appropriate health care during pregnancy, childbirth and immediately afterwards.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Making a Difference

Through our Support Services, we have the potential to make a real and positive change in the community. This is one of our key areas of focus here at GENUS FOUNDATION. We have worked in the field of skill development in areas such as helping farmers with new techniques of making manure and using different energy generation techniques to make them most self reliant as they can be.

AGRICULTURE

Doing What’s Needed

Indian agriculture is at crossroads and the need of the hour is not only to make farming as profitable venture to attract and retain those who want to quit farming but also enhance agricultural productivity and hence income to solve the issue of disguised unemployment in agricultural work force of India. One of the possible solution to this problem is skill development in agricultural sector.
Genus Foundation is actively involved in the skill development training of farmers by imparting the training of latest and scientific techniques for agriculture like Green House Farming, Organic Farming, Preparation of Vermi-Compost etc.

SOLAR ENERGY

Tackling the Issue

Genus Foundation has conducted five training sessions of Utility of Solar Energy for the youth of Village_Sunder ka Baas, Tehsil- Amer, of Jaipur district. The technical support was provided by M/S Solar Experts, Jaipur. About 254 trainees have been trained about the utility and instalment procedure of solar panel in the houses and agriculture farms.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Making a Difference

Genus Foundation has been actively working in the field of women empowerment to improve and uplift the condition of women, not just in rural region, but also urban regions of Rajasthan and nearby states. We have carried out activities like training women in skills like stiching, tailoring etc. to help them stand on their own feet and be independent in terms of financial conditions and be breadwinners for their families.
